Job offer in Australia

The Employer Sponsored visa
For people with a job offer in Australia

The ‘Employer-Sponsored’ category is specially designed for individuals who have a job offer in Australia, as well as those being transferred to Australia by their current employer. This visa category offers options for both temporary and permanent residence. To accommodate different needs, the category is divided into sub-categories, giving you more flexibility in securing your future in Australia.

Employer-sponsored visa

Both you, as the applicant, and the Australian employer must meet certain requirements to qualify for the Employer-Sponsored visa. This process involves assessments for both the company and the job offer in Australia, followed by an evaluation of your profile. It’s essential to demonstrate that you bring unique value to the Australian organization that can’t be fulfilled by a local employee.

As with the Skilled Worker visa, the occupations list is also applicable to this visa category, so your job must be listed on the approved occupations list.

Below, you’ll find an overview of the Employer-Sponsored visas and their basic requirements, helping you understand the opportunities available and the path to take.

Temporary Work visa – TSS Visa

The former ‘Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)’ has now been replaced with the new Temporary Skill Shortage visa, which comes with updated conditions based on your occupation.

If your job is listed on the ‘Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List,’ you may be eligible for a visa valid for up to four years. After working for at least three years with your employer, you could be eligible for a permanent visa, provided you meet the necessary criteria.

If you have a job offer listed on the ‘Short-term Skilled Occupation List,’ you may qualify for a work visa valid for two years. After this initial period, you can extend your visa for another two years. Once the total of four years has passed, you’ll either need to leave Australia or transition to a permanent visa, such as the Skilled Worker visa.

In both cases, you will need at least two years of work experience in the job you’ve been offered and demonstrate proficiency in the English language

Permanent work visa

This visa is perfect for individuals who have a job offer in Australia and meet the criteria for a Skilled Worker visa.

To qualify, you must:

  • Have a job listed on the approved occupations list
  • Meet the required skills and educational assessment criteria
  • Have strong English language proficiency
  • Be between 18 and 45 years of age
  • Be in good health and have no criminal record

Once granted, this visa provides you with permanent resident status in Australia.

Regional sponsored work visa

In summary, this visa is similar to the one mentioned above, with the key difference being that your Australian employer is located in Regional Australia. Like the other visa, this one also grants you permanent resident status.
